HYDERABAD: Film actor Chiranjeevi’s brother Pavan Kalyan on Thursday described himself as an ‘activist’ in the proposed political party who would do anything he was asked to do.

In an informal interaction with the media at his office on Thursday afternoon, he said that at present he was only part of a team that was putting the logistics in place for Mr. Chiranjeevi’s maiden public meeting to be held in Tirupati on August 26.

When questions about his role persisted, he said he would not like to contest in the general elections.

‘Not keen’

“I am not keen on an electoral fight at all. I am here only to obey instructions of my brother,” he declared.

Mr. Kalyan said, “I am taking care of my brother’s security, apart from coordinating with the cultural troupes.” About 20 private guards would handle the security in addition to the presence of the district police.

In what was his first interaction ever since news of the new party started doing the rounds, Mr. Pavan Kalyan appeared evasive fielding queries about the party’s agenda, policies and other such details.

However, he did speak of a ‘rage’ in the minds of the people over successive governments neglecting welfare and callousness when it came to fulfilling the basic needs.

Chiru to hoist tri-colour

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi will hoist the national tri-colour at his swank new office on road No. 46, Jubilee Hills on Friday morning.

It may be recalled that the actor performed puja with family and close friends to mark the inauguration of the party office in the dead of the night on August 10. Ever since, the media has been after him to get more details about his the new political party.

On Thursday evening, workers were busy making last minute arrangements for the flag-hoisting ceremony as the actor’s brother-in-law Allu Aravind was overseeing them.

When asked, he said Mr. Chiranjeevi would address his first-ever, full-fledged press conference and announce details at the new party office on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that a builder who was behind the construction of the office, K. Srinath, assisted by two others, would be handling the logistics concerning the media for the proposed public meeting to be addressed by the actor on August 26.
